What to Expect

NAVHC does not require a doctor referral, however we STRONGLY recommend that you work with your primary care veterinarian before coming to NAVHC. All appointments are prioritized on the basis of medical need. Please report to NAVHC with your pet 10 minutes before the scheduled time to allow completion of required registration steps. Please allow additional time if you are planning on filing with insurance.

Our appointment schedule requires drop off of patients for their appointment in order to be able to provide individual, personalized attention to your pet. For the same reason we will not allow diagnostics while the owner is present. This is done in the attempt to reduce unnecessary stress for your pet. When you get into the exam room, you will meet a cardiology technician, who will discuss with you the specific diagnostic tests needed. Our appointments are normally an hour and a half. Timely return to NAVHC for discharge is important. Appointments can be requested for the morning or the afternoon slots. At time of discharge you will meet with the doctor who will review the findings and discuss the customized medical plan. The cardiology technician will review the medications with you. The patient service coordinator will return your pet to you and check you out in the room.

Changes from this standard protocol may occur depending on individual needs and will be discussed during the visit.
