North American Veterinary Heart Center utilizes only current, innovative and proprietary technology, tools, techniques, diagnostic equipment and facility amenities. They encompass:

Physical exams to identify cardiac problems

Exams to evaluate cardiac problems:

  • Electrocardiography (evaluation of the electrical activity of the heart)
  • Thoracic radiography (x-rays)
  • Indirect blood pressure measurement

Echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart) with specialized and advanced cardiac studies including:

  • 3D echocardiography
  • Transesophageal echocardiography

Monitoring & recording of cardiac activity:

  • Holter monitoring: 24 hours or 7 days recording of the electrical activity of the heart
  • Multiple event record monitoring: recording of electrical activity of the heart during an event
  • Implantable loop recording
  • Pacemaker interrogation (checking of a pacemaker)

Additional treatment and monitoring:

  • Pericardiocentesis +/- cytology (removal of fluid from around the heart)
  • Thoracocentesis (+/- cytology) and/or abdominocentesis
  • Heartworm treatment and monitoring

OFA certification and adult canine and feline breed screening:

  • Dobermann, Boxer, Irish Wolfhound, Great Danes, Labrador, Sphynx, Bambino, Maine Coon, Ragdoll, etc.
