Our dental team consists of a dentist, board-certified cardiologist, board-certified consulting anesthesiologist, and a certified veterinary technician.

This team delivers dental and oral care services, spanning a large spectrum of procedures and protocols to patients that are considered to be at a higher risk of anesthesia:

  • Oral examination
  • Digital radiology and cone beam computed tomography
  • Dental cleaning – professional dental and periodontal cleaning encompasses removal of plaque and calculus (tartar) and elimination of diseased periodontal tissues
  • Periodontal surgery
  • Tooth extraction in cardiac patients considered in cases of severe periodontal disease and tooth fracture, and in cases of feline tooth resorption and stomatitis

Trauma and other systemic disease like immunomediate diseases and oral cancers may require additional interventions by the North American Veterinary Heart Center team. They include:

  • Restorative dentistry
  • Oral, maxillofacial and temporomandibular joint surgery
